Advertising Regulated Entities and Regulated Products and Services is an area of concern for the Central Bank of Ireland. In 2012, action was taken in relation to 189 advertisements that breached the Consumer Protection Code (“the Code”). As at the end of September 2013, action was required to be taken in respect of 178 advertisements that breached the Code.
In response to this, Compliance Ireland has designed a half-day participant interactive workshop which provides practical advice and guidance in the area of Consumer Protection Code Advertising Requirements.
The workshop will provide advice, guidance and practical examples in the following areas:
- Resources, systems and control checks
- Advertising requirements as set out in the Code including:
- Outsourcing Requirements;
- Print Media Campaigns
- On-line advertising;
- Social Media advertising;
- Key Information and Qualifying Criteria Requirements
- Use of Recommendations and Commendations
- Use of Comparisons
Once completed, participants will have a full understanding of the Advertising Requirements as set out in the Code, as well as the Advertising Guidelines published by the Central Bank in October 2013. Participants will also be briefed on how to prepare system and control checks in order to ensure compliance with the Code
